The most beautiful spots of the 50k race
The cradle of the Alps
The Pays Mentonnais is surrounded by imposing peaks that exceed 1300 m above sea level. Here, the Alps plunge into the sea: all along the coastal route and on the "balconies" linking the villages perchés between Castellar and Sainte-Agnès, runners will appreciate the contrast between the limestone cliffs and the blue waters of the Mediterranean, landscapes where the colorful forest spreads the scent of fall. When reaching the many view points, the eye rests on the Italian Riviera and the Principality of Monaco and on the nearby Mercantour National Park and the Ligurian Alps.
The balconies of the Riviera
The Riviera was built around a rich architectural heritage since Roman times and the trophy of Emperor Augustus at La Turbie is a beacon in the middle of the route. The villages built on rocky spurs - true "eagle's nests" - like the village of Eze, have an authentic character and often offer breathtaking views, like balconies suspended above the Mediterranean sea. The climate, one of the mildest in France, invites to enjoy the treasures of nature at around 20°C in winter and fall.
Port of the Royaume de Savoie
The roadstead of Villefranche-sur-mer is a treasure chest that many love to enjoy. The quietness of its waters nestled at the foot of the Alps allowed the creation of the port of the Royaume de Savoie - the Kingdom of Savoy. The balconies of the Leuze and Vinaigrier mountains offer exceptional views of the beaches of the Riviera, 500 meters below. The scents of the Mediterranean vegetation pervades the trails. You will take a route rich in history, with hills and forts overlooking Nice which have been strategic spots since Roman times.
Nissa la bella
The descent leading to the capital of the Metropolis, finish line of the epic 100 Km race, leads to the Mont Alban square fort. The coastal trail offers an amazing view over the baie des Anges and through the maritime pines. After crossing the Lympia harbor - colored by the "pointus", traditional fishermen's boats - you will at last reach the finish line of the Promenade des Anglais.
